Vision:

Sharing the world’s spiritual music, we celebrate, inspire and offer joy and healing.

Mission:

We are a passionate, innovative, multi-faith choir committed to excellence and musical authenticity. We honour cultural and spiritual diversity and seek common ground. We sing our mission through service to the community.

Who we are:

We are a multi-faith, multi-cultural community choir which has brought the joy and inspirational power of the world's sacred and social awareness songs to audiences since 1985. Our repertoire features songs from African-American, Cuban, African, European, Asian, Middle Eastern and Native American traditions. In public performance, we celebrate the universal heart and spirit that flow throughout the world’s richly diverse cultures and spiritual traditions.

What we do:

Help and healing through song... We regularly and enthusiastically perform no-fee concerts in support of local social organizations. Our efforts raise both spirits and funds for many not-for-profit societies and their communities. Service is a core value of our choir community.

As part of our Community Outreach Series, we have performed on the behalf of groups such as the Unitarian Refugee Committee, the Squamish Drug Rehabilitation Centre, Canuck Place, the Vancouver Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and several Vancouver Downtown East Side initiatives. The choir hosts an annual concert and dinner for the First United Church Mission and a popular Community Sing-Along where choir and audience sing together with an open mike for soloists.

Striving for musical excellence and authenticity …in order to honour and authentically express the music of other cultures, we seek to continually learn and improve in regular workshops with acknowledged masters of gospel and traditional genres (Terrence Kelly, Linda Tillery, Eric Dozier, Dee Daniels) and in 2005 we took a cultural exchange tour to learn and perform with leading choirs in Cuba. The choir performs two major self-produced concerts in December and June of each year.
